Day 8 – June 10, 2015

Day 8

Can I see, understand and interpret patterns and sources of values and ethical fiber that surround the social and professional activity within my immediate peers at the internship site?

Please apply the Reflective Discernment Model to articulate your learning: I learned that I learned that when. This learning matters because. In light of this learning

I learned that there is a pattern in the work environment and there are values that come from the interaction that the company creates. The source of the creativity and innovation that the company involves in revolves around Synergy. Ironically, for me one of my readings is “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and the sixth habit is about synergy. The professional environment revolves around CEO’s and their willingness and involvement in creating the world’s best meetings. With everything that the organization does, the biggest pattern is the interaction and communication that each president or CEO brings to the table.

I learned this at different times. Initially, I learned this when I was attending the first round table at the helm society. Secondly, I learned this when in the office. The amount of involvement that the CEO of the Helm society has in the organization is amazing. The involvement he adds  is in the facilitation of getting CEO to be involved with the organization and the conferences is phenomenal.

This learning matters because pattern recognition is a skill that every business leader should develop, hone and practice consistently. Business leaders with good pattern recognition skills see another dimension to data; what they see is more than the sum of the parts.

In light of this learning, I can definitely  increase my intellectual practice by enhancing my interpretation of pattern skills as well as understanding ethical fiber and sources of values.
