Day 6
Can I identify the electronic email messages, how they are structured, length, tone, or scope that are used to advance early stages interesting ideas that become the next good idea? Are there formal training procedures to electronic messaging?
I learned that the email structure inside the office is almost written as if in shorthand. I learned that Josh (Helm’s CEO) is very direct he does not fluff any email. It is direct and to the point in very short lengths. Messaging outside the office is different the rule is to write in the same tone as the other party writes in. If the email is direct and asks for specific requests, then we write back direct to the point with the info requested. Similarly if the message provides freedom of choice, for example , if they say something like “I am available Monday – Friday after 2pm” then, we can reply with freedom and offer multiple times to meet that are on different days after 2 pm. Additionally, the organization’s electronic messaging procedure is informal and formal at times. However, any message going outside of the organization is written formally; no questions asked.
I learned this while I was looking through the recruiting folder during my training to assist in being a hiring manager/ recruiter. Not only did I learn this during training, but I also learned this as I was looking at the messages from my coworkers on the recruiting posts on Upwork. Outside of recruiting work, I engage with my coworkers and my boss through electronic messaging as well; this also presents me with examples and knowledge of the way the electronic messaging works.
This learning matters because it is important to understand how to communicate properly and efficiently within the company. Not only that but I also need to understand basic communication skills for when I email CEO’s of other major companies. Part of the job is to work with CEO’s so this learning is extremely important.
In light of this learning, I understand that knowledge and comprehension of grammatical English is important in this line of work because of the communication that takes place inside this organization.
